Dear Neighbor,

I originally wanted to procure a snazzy flyer for what I’m about to tell you, but they took away my Mac at work and now all I have is friggin’ Paintbrush, so, here’s what I could come up with, incomplete and all:

Florida and Fred


It is supposed to capture the feel of introducing ourselves as neighbors while adding a bit of mystery and excitement, thus Esther Rolle (“Florida” from Good Times) looking on as Mr. Rogers puts on his sweater for the final time.

I’m Ben, and I live with Natalie and Kristi in apartment 601. We just moved in 2 weeks ago, and I haven’t met anyone. I tend to rush out of the house late for work and get back at odd hours. You may have heard us, however, attempting to cover hits from ’89 on the piano. Let us know if we should be more quiet.

The point of this little letter instead of flyer, however, is to invite you to our housewarming party, this Saturday night the 27th of August, around 7 pm. It’s go’n be a potluck / dance routine / murder mystery / fruity drinks / impromptu performance party, and it’s Natalie’s birthday too. Well, probably not murder mystery, if only coz that would take so much time to write and I don’t think

But yeah, we’d love for y’all to stop by so we can finally meet you (or at least I finally can). Potluck items welcome, talents and performances and bad pop song covers on the piano even more welcome. Dance routines above all else.

Can you play and sing at the same time?

All I have is "This One's for the Children", "I'll Be Lovin' You", and "Hangin' Tough" ... oh yeah, and "The Right Stuff (You Got It)".

Yes my party had some serious dancing and lovely company. Eric made the most insane *girl drink drunk* cup out of a hollowed out pineapple, umbrellas, and glow sticks. Everyone brought so much food - I'm still eating the veggie dawgs. There was a weiner dog present. Melanie DJ'd. much fun was had....

Pam - I'm so late/frantic/sorry/not-sorry - did I tell you that the book had a bunch of errors and I had to do a reprint? I'm slowly sewing them, and of course I missed sending one to you while at camp. But ... judging from your journal entries - are you going to have a steady mailing address any time soon? I thought eventually you were going to move back to IV and in with Kirk - is that not true anymore?

You did tell me. Like I said in that email, you can always send it to my parent's address, which I'll send you again if you need it. I'm still planning on moving back to IV, but I have been a little unsure just because of my financial situation (not having a job waiting for me when i get back, etc). I was even thinking about working at a 6th grade camp when i move back to California just so I could save on rent and travel again afterwards.
